These are going to be the softest garlic knots you ever try, they are awesome.  I love making these because I know that they will get eaten quickly!  The main part in making these is patience because they need to rise 3 separate times, but again they are sooo worth it.  This dough is the best and you will see that I use the base of this dough in other recipes which is very convenient.  The most important time for the dough to fully rise is when it is on the baking sheet in the knots before placing into the oven to bake.  Also you can make the knots a little smaller than mine, just make sure to watch the baking time, because they will be finished quicker.  If you end up needing more garlic butter make a 1/4 batch of the recipe.  I really hope you give these a try they are super delicious

Ingredients you will need…

  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2-3 teaspoons salt

Topping

  • garlic powder
  • 1 stick and 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped parsley
  • 10-15 garlic cloves
  • salt
  • pepper

1.)  Pour your lukewarm milk into a bowl from stand mixer, sprinkle yeast over the top and let sit for 10 minutes.

2.)  Next add 1 cup of flour and salt and mix with whisk until incorporated.  Let sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

3.)  Add in the eggs, melted butter, and the rest of the flour and mix until it is not sticking to the sides of the bowl, adding more flour as needed.

4.)  Cover the dough and let lit for about 1 1/2-2 hours till double in size.

5.)  Once doubled, remove from bowl onto a floured surface, cut in half and work with one half at a time.  Cut the half piece into 8 even pieces.

6.)  Take one of the 8 pieces and roll it into a long piece, about 8-10 inches long, and tie it in a knot just like the first step when tying your shoe.  Tuck in the end pieces and place on your baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

7.)  Repeat this with the second half of dough, once you have them all on the baking sheet, let them rise for another 2 hours so they are doubled and this is the step that you can’t skip or shorten, let them fully rise so they will be super fluffy.

8.)  After they have risen to double their size, melt 3 tablespoons butter and gently brush the tops of each knot, then sprinkle with garlic powder, let sit another 20 minutes.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

9.)  Once your oven has preheated place knots into the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until light golden brown on tops.

10.)  While the knots are baking, prepare the garlic butter, by combining the butter (melted), garlic through garlic press, parsley, a pinch of salt, and a dash of pepper. Mix with a whisk.

11.)  Remove the knots from the oven, and brush with the garlic butter right away.

12.)  Pull one piece off and give this garlicky goodness a try!
