Whenever my family would go to a Lebanese or Mediterranean restaurant, our favorite part is always the yellow rice, and I knew I had to give it a try.  This is a simply version without saffron, because I know that they usually saffron is used when they make this rice, but this is pretty close, and still has an awesome flavor similar to the restaurants.  I will be adding a yellow rice using saffron soon, I just need to test it and make it just right.  We can eat this rice just by itself, or with a meal, add some butter, or sour cream all work great and I think that basmati rice is the best for this dish.

Ingredients you will need…

  • 3 1/2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt

1.)  Place 3 1/2 cups rice into rice cooker, followed by 4 cups of water.

2.)  Add the spices to the rice cooker and mix well with a whisk so there are no chunks of spices.

3.)  Turn on the white rice option and let cook.

4.)  Once it is done cooking, take a large spoon and mix the rice around, and fluff it. All that is left is to enjoy it as a side dish or by itself.
