I love making steak for dinner, because it is a filling meal that you can’t really go wrong with.  Because even if you just season with salt and pepper it will taste great!  But this steak has a little extra flavor by adding your favorite bbq sauce.  It would be great to let the steaks marinade for at least a half hour so the flavor really gets into the meat.  This is my favorite way of making steaks because it really turns out moist and not to dry, because the heat is not super high and it does not burn from a hot pan.  They turn out absolutely perfect!  Just take it out according to the doneness of your liking.

Ingredients you will need…

  • 4 medium sized eye of round steaks
  • 1/2 cup your favorite bbq sauce
  • steak seasoning
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter

1.)  Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Place your room temperature steaks in a bowl, and rub with bbq sauce, then season both sides with salt pepper and steak seasoning.

2.)  Let marinade for at least 30 minutes. Once you are ready to cook heat up your cast iron skillet(it doesn’t have to be the grill cast iron) to high, and spread your butter on your hot pan.

3.)  Place your steaks onto the hot cast iron pan be careful not to get burned if the butter splashes. Cook on each side for about 45 seconds.

4.)  Then place the cast iron pan with steaks into your preheated oven, depending on how you like your steak it can cook between 25-40 minutes.  My family likes them well done so I keep them in for the full 40 minutes.

5.)  For the last 3 minutes of your cooking time, turn on the broiler to high.  Then remove from oven immediately.  Let rest for on a wire rack for 5 minutes before slicing.

6.)  Slice and enjoy.
